Testosterone May Play Role in SIDS

Does anyone have any information on the number of males comapred to females who have died due to SIDS? I know that more research still needs to be done, but it would be interesting to see if more male babies die of SIDS compared to females.

well..

.gov:
60% to 40% is the usual quoted number it seems. This cdc website says:
"YPLL was 144,882 for white males; 92,057 for white females; "
http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00001294.htm

and this recent australian article speaks in more detail regarding the study, and the average 73 sids deaths per year there

Re: well..

oh,
wiki always has a good summary:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIDS
0.05% of babies die from unknown causes (SIDS), although the risk to children of smoking mothers is 3X higher
